The submission period for the January-February 1997 round of the Internet Ray Tracing Competition is over. The images are now available for viewing, voting, and comment at WWW: http://www.povray.org/irtc/view/ FTP: ftp://ftp.povray.org/pub/irtc/competition-Jan-Feb-97 ftp://ftp.apocalypse.org/pub/u/bill/competition-Jan-Feb-97 As in recent rounds, Bill Marrs has provided an immediate ftp mirror site. It is *not* a general POV-Ray or IRTC mirror; it is only to distribute some of the load during the voting period. Any new mirror sites will be announced as soon as they are available. Many of the regular povray mirrors also carry the competition images. If you prefer to download large bundles, they are available in the directory named "zipped-up", under the name "images-*.zip" for the images, and "all-text.zip" for the text. This round's voting interval is eighteen days due to the large number of entries submitted. Also, due to some technical difficulties, voting won't really start until tomorrow, 2 March. So for this round, votes will be accepted from March 2 through March 19. Winners will be announced March 20. Note that this is the first round of "panel" voting. Only panel judges and entrants may vote; others are welcome to view and comment on the images. The voting process is the same as before, with one exception--entrants' votes for their own images are ignored. The registration process is the same as before, but to submit a vote, you must either join the panel or submit an image. See our web site for more details. The March-April 1997 round of the IRTC is now open. The topic for this round is "School". You may begin submitting for this round immediately; entries will be accepted through 30 April 1997.
