The Internet Ray Tracing Competition admins have finally firmed up their
definition of "Honorable Mention", and have updated the web pages to
show the designees for all rounds.

An Honorable Mention goes to the entry with the highest rating in a
single category, provided that entry has not been otherwise recognized
as a winner or received an honorable mention in another category.  Top
finishers in multiple categories will be recognized for the category in
which they recieved the highest rating.  If this is confusing, don't
worry about it--just think of us as throwing darts or rolling dice or
something. <grin>

Since a different selection system was used for the first round
(May-June 1996), we awarded Honorable Mention status to the first three
runners-up.

So check out our web pages or the lists below, and you might see that
your favorite image did pretty well after all.  As for prizes, well,
even IRTC winners are not guaranteed prizes, but Honorable Mention
entries have even less guarantee than the winners.  However, we are
working with our sponsors to see what might be done for future rounds;
details will be announced as we know them.
