===== From gregj56590@aol.com: Where's the story? Technically excellent. ===== From agage@mines.edu: A masterpiece. Had you not described how it was done, I would never have thought such an animation possible with POVray. The connection to the theme is excellent, and the motion, physics, and camera control are superb. Wow. It could be argued that there are too many lights, or that the background is too simple, but in either case this entry has received my highest score ever for any entry in the last year I have voted in the IRTC. ===== From Martin.Magnusson.7121@student.uu.se: Very good-looking indeed! Good motion, good textures. I would like to see some sort of background, though. Where is the track located? ===== From chrisj@digiquill.com: This is technically the best of all of them. ===== From quinet@gamers.org: Wow! Excellent animation. It looks nice and it feels real (watching it makes me dizzy). I liked snake.mpg, I love this one. There is a minor thing that could be improved: I saw two places where the track has a little bump that would normally cause the ball to jump up a bit (just before passing the yellow flags at the top). I don't know if that would be visible, but it's just an idea. Excellent work! ===== From bill@apocalypse.org: You must put that Perl script on the web! This is an excellent animation, technically amazing. The camera work is wonderful. The object was also a great choice. My only criticism would be that the shadows from the roller coaster are a bit crazed and too strong, softening them (area light?) would have helped (or even using no_shadow on the coaster object). This scene is a real winner though - great work! ===== From kentdj@revealed.net: This is REALLY COOL! The camera motion is outstanding and has a "motion- picture" quality to it. It really gives you a feel for the increasing velocity and excitement as you get to the bottom. I'd love to see an AVI version of this with a fade-in and fade-out so it could be used as a looping screen saver. ===== From arcana@sinbad.net: Really good representation of the speed of descent on the marble. Would have liked it better if the camera panned back a bit on the tighter corners. I got a touch of whiplash on some of the faster corners and found it hard to keep track of where, within the track the ball is. :{) ===== From r@smsq1.comm.hq.af.mil: Looks like the best of the bunch. Notable for textures, composition, lighting, modelling ===== From r@159.134.245.19: The best one in my opinion. A simple (in appearance) model. Must have taken quite a bit of work to get there. Smooth animation seemingly respecting basic laws of physics. Nice camera movements. The only thing that may be improved although I realise how tricky this can be is the lighting of the scene. Notable for originality, modelling ===== From r@tweedledee.its.utas.edu.au: Fantastic! ===== From r@dial-up40.webbernet.net: Very good work, indeed. Several nice details. The little flags, the additional visual interest of the multicolored wooden base, the bounceback at the end. The motion was smooth and felt accurate. This reminds me of a virtual rollercoaster prog I saw some time back. The camera work was sophisticated and effective. The only minor quibbles I see are that the camera occasionally loses sight of the ball behind posts and rails, and the acceleration on downgrades and spirals and deceleration on climbs could possibly use a bit of exaggeration to add to the dynamic feel and excitement of the piece. Well done. This comment by clem@dhol.com. ===== From r@cache5.cache.iol.ie: simply brilliant Notable for originality, textures, composition, lighting, modelling
