===== From clem@dhol.com: Clever idea. The aliasing was irritating, especially the crawling jaggies in the intro. The fade to black transitions were a bad idea. They kill the flow of the story. The weather scenes outside the window were nice. The melting snowman was a nice touch. Growing and wilting flowers would have been good too. The sky in the winter portion didn't work very well. The ending with the wooden words was an anticlimax. After a game that long, something more dramatic should happen. I like the opening scene aside from those jaggies. ===== From djconnel@flash.net: Nicelty done!!! The rendering of time via the view is a very nice touch! The modeling of the chess set is quite good, and the room is adequate. The outdoors objects are simply modeled, but their animation does a nice job of telling the story, and the composition of the scene is just right for the scene. So while it may lack some of the spectacular technical breakthroughs of some of the other entries, this one is quite good, especially in the concept and interpretation category. Dan ===== From Martin.Magnusson.7121@student.uu.se: Heh... cool :) The chess board and table are well done, but the tree outside and the sky could use some more work. You could try adding a gradient to the sky, making it lighter (more yellow) near the horizon, and maybe add more turbulence to the clouds. ===== From gregj56590@aol.com: Nice opening credits. Modelling of the tree could be a bit better, perhaps making the pattern of the dome for the leaves at a larger scale. Nice modelling of the wood. Snow is interesting. ===== From PovRayGuy@aol.com: Not bad at all, needs a more complex background. ===== From Alain.Culos@bigfoot.com: I thought this one was the best until I could get a proper viewer to see pingpong, at that time I really did not know which was best. This one has the best artistic touch of the round I think. Looks technically pretty good : ligth changes, seasons, trees, very sketchy but very effective design, catches the eye. Nice contrast and proper lighting. The concept is very original as well. I enjoyed the introduction bit as well. The only criticism I can make is that the ending is not up to the standard of the rest. This strange light leap move makes the check mate a bit weird and the artistic touch of the last words is not really there. ===== From bill@apocalypse.org: That was one long chess game! ===== From r@pa-ppp31.hevanet.com: I liked the seasons passing concept. Notable for lighting ===== From r@proxy.cowan.edu.au: Pretty neat, typical chess - lengthy by the seasons. Great way to show all of your skills in POV art. Notable for lighting, modelling ===== From r@207-172-73-182.s182.tnt1.man.erols.com: I think you bit off mroe than you could chew with the weather in the background. ===== From r@kol44.kauhajoki.fi: Ugly. Uninteresting.
