===== From manorton@tcnet.net: To much math :) For me at least. Looks good. I enjoyed it. ===== From clem@dhol.com: I'm really tempted to spend pages discussing the math, but I'll restrain myself. Interesting and on topic, but there are a few pacing problems. The preliminary number sections, especially the successive approximation of pi, drag a bit, the shell goes by way too fast, and the molecular recapitulation of the polygons needs more time and examples. It would have been good to show the shell in detail, showing how the spiral form allows successive living chambers to be larger while retaining the same shape. I'm surprised that you didn't play up the fractal theme on the earth scene (or include Feigenbaum's number in the earlier part). The attempt to fit the logarithmic spiral to the dna is interesting and original, but I am not so sure that I buy it. The pi section may have had more visual interest if you had expressed things more graphically, for example by showing the fraction as a ratio of two areas or volumes of interesting shape rather than throwing so many numbers. ===== From vansickl@erols.com: I rated this one second technically, and fourth for art and interpretation. If the hurricane and the island had looked more natural I would have awarded higher ratings. (vansickl@erols.com) ===== From gregj56590@aol.com: Description helped. Animation doesn't tell a story, and appears to just be a showcasing of raytracing ability and a wooden math lesson. ===== From chrisj@digiquill.com: I really liked this one, althought the application to the theme is forced. ===== From djconnel@flash.net: Pi -- nicely done!!! Exploring the relationships of the number in such a fashion really riveted my interest... but then it just stopped. Phi -- Even better! The unfolding shapes, representing the number, was excellent. This, also, really had my attention. But then there was the transition into the golden spirals.... the problem with the animation is a lack of coherence of theme. Is it about the golden ration? Then why not focus exclusively on that. On irrational numbers? Then why so much attention paid to the golden ratio? There is huge potential here, and the elements in place are excellent. They just need better glue. ===== From r@crash.wwwcache.ja.net: I liked the mathematical derivations, and the overall concept, but the planet and the island didn't look terribly realistic. Notable for originality
