===== From agage@csee.usf.edu: Everybody loves a sequel... Actually, I have to admit -- taking elements of the previous rounds of the IRTC, thus making the animation a clash of different animations...I like it :) And, you kept it on topic (barely) to boot. Very nice! ===== From manorton@tcnet.net: Very cute story line. ===== From clem@dhol.com: Nice use of texture cues on the lettering. Interesting blend of "realistic" elements (like Rusty's design and much abused surface) and cartoony conventions (like the visible radio waves). Very good modelling and texturing (although the bugbots could use a bit more texture detail). The arm motion is excellent, as is the tread animation. A less laconic text file would have been nice. Nice combination of scales. In the end, the story is self-explanatory. ===== From arcana@sinbad.net: Nice to see Rusty again, although I believe it goes against the intent of the competition to reuse items, scenes, etc for the purposes of a new competition. Also, I would have liked to have seen some kind of an explanation as to how this fits into the theme of Microcosm. ===== From gregj56590@aol.com: It's fine to repeat a popular character developed in last round. Animation shows good character development in showing Rusty's hobbies. I gave you a moderately high technical merit score, because, with the exception of N.A's "Microcosms," it's the only animation that makes me feel like I am seeing an actual place, regardless of whether the style is scifi/cartoony or perfect realism. Theme of "microcosms" isn't apparent until the end, in that the scale of the little bots isn't apparent until then. Holding off this detail doesn't add much to theme, and a 1/20 difference in size hardly speaks of the vision of "Microcosm" that most people think of. Also, why are the bots dissed? ===== From chrisj@digiquill.com: No! You can't kill Rusty! Uh, wait a minute. You didn't. Good. This is a funny, cute animation. Where are Rusty's Friends? ===== From djconnel@flash.net: Brilliant!!! This has it all -- story, character, humor, technical merit, topicality, timing... In my mind, it is the clear winner. I was laughing out loud the whole duration. The only suggestion -- there don't appear to be enough crushed bugbots -- the marching scene gives the suggestion that the numbers are far greater. But this is an excellent piece of work! ===== From stoker@echo-on.net: Some nice subtle touches in this animation. Very smooth. -Neil Alexander ===== From r@cache.mch.sni.de: Just plain great! I sure hope you win this round! Notable for composition, originality ===== From r@crash.wwwcache.ja.net: Rusty the Robot returns, in an action-packed sequel. IMHO this is far better than the original, and I hope Rusty returns. The robots are all beatifully modelled, and I like the way the bugbots don't all march in phase. A few (minor) quibbles - the font at the beginning doesn't really look right, and the ground looks too dull. Notable for composition, lighting, modelling
