===== From agage@csee.usf.edu: Excellent. I was a little skeptical at first, since the motion of the lander seemed a bit stiff, and the landing sequence was too broken up, but the actual rover makes up for all of that. The sway in its walk is great, as is the apparent flexing in the cable leading to its camera. The single best part of the animation, in my opinion, is the silhouette scene of the rover walking up a slope. Very nice. Of course, the flag-waving is funny. ===== From PovRayGuy@aol.com: Needs more complex textures. Funny ending. ===== From davew@sheaarch.com: Nice ===== From vansickl@erols.com: Quite good on all counts. I won't mind losing to this one. (vansickl@erols.com) ===== From Martin.Magnusson.7121@student.uu.se: Hehe! That's cute! I really like the "silhouette-scene". A good little story, perhaps a bit too stressed, with short scenes, in the beginning. But maybe you had to do that to keep the file size down. The robot moves very nicely too. Great work! ===== From matt@teleport.com: Superb attention to detail in modeling, coloring, animating, lighting... The moving coil was an excellent touch. ===== From arcana@sinbad.net: Very nice work. ===== From clem@dhol.com: Incredible. The Gretzky of irtc-anim. (But don't retire!) Your stuff is consistently in a whole different league from just about everyone else. Amazingly smooth and professional animation, excellent texturing, stills competition worthy backgrounds (hardly anyone else does that) and all the details. The Marsscape is just perfect. The spider robot motion is outstanding. Very good media use. The story is clever and original and all too plausible. Nitpicks: The stars were a bit crawly, the retrorocket flame itself looked good, but the envelope of the flame needed more turbulence. The retro flame also should have kicked up backblast. It would also have been nice if the robot left footprints. I emphasize that these are trivial things, and with a lesser quality work I probably wouldn't mention them. ===== From gregj56590@aol.com: A great disappointment: bait and switch. I expected some technically astounding and/or humorous rendition of a craft walking on Mars. LOW technical score: It's easy to rotate things. ===== From ianshumsky@hotmail.com: Great robot movement, especially the touches such as the moving pistons. I though your use of media was well done too and added that little extra.
