TITLE: The FUN FLY NAME: Benoit ROUSSELLE COUNTRY: France (North close to Lille) EMAIL: brousselle@atos-group.com TOPIC: InnerWorking COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. MPGFILE: thefunfl.mpg RENDERER USED: Blender TOOLS USED: mpeg_encode CREATION TIME: should be something like 20 hours rendering and much more modelling texturing, lighting and Animating... HARDWARE USED: that's where it's getting fun : i modelled it on my old 486 DX2 under Linux. I would like to thanks the Blender team for such a nice software that you can use on such a slow computer ! I did not try to render it on my 486, you can imagine why ! I rendered it on a Pentium III 450 Mhz under NT, which is a reasonnable choice for rendering. ANIMATION DESCRIPTION: I did this animation because i'm keen on small scale models. Those small engines are real fun to use and make fly. VIEWING RECOMMENDATIONS: Any kind of software DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS ANIMATION WAS CREATED: As i said it, i used Blender for the first time, and this freeware is really powerfull. I did a little bit of pov, but i find it difficult to use for animations. This is also my first submission to the irtc and any kind of animation contest. You may have noticed it, i had to cut some part of my animation, because i did not do enough testing for mpeg convertion. In fact my animation was 2250 images at the beginning but the resulting video really too bad. so i had to remove some parts. I also spent too much time on the beginning of the animation (the plane flight) which is a little bit off-topic.Any way i had fun making it on my old 486 (but this is the LAST time :), particularly for doing the skeleton that animates the inner of the engine. Have fun and take care!
