MPGFILE: final.mpg RENDERER USED: Maya TOOLS USED: Maya, Rhino3D , PaintShopPro, Adobe Premiere. CREATION TIME: 8 hours HARDWARE USED: Pentium IV 1.9GHz ANIMATION DESCRIPTION: The movie explains the functioning of a "device" that coud be used to turn on the TV using an apple: -The apple hits a book and this book lifts up another book. -The second book hits a tennis ball can that moves a tennis ball (on the table). -This tennis ball hits a domino and it starts the falling sequence. -The last domino hits a Coke can that falls and hit a piece of wood that lifts up a hammer that (finally) hits (and turns on) the TV. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS ANIMATION WAS CREATED: I modeled several objects in Maya and Rhino3D, in most of them I used NURBS. The lights (a spot light and an ambient light) project soft shadows to make the entire scene more realistic. All the textures were created using PaintShop Pro, some of them (tennis ball can and books) were scanned from the original objects the other were fully designed using this software. The floor, tennis balls, Coke can have bump mappings. The armchair and the hammer grip have a 3D leather texture. I used a NURBS sphere and a displacement map to get tennis ball shape, after that I converted it to polygons. The entire action was made using rigid bodies and gravity fields. The animation was made using 6 cameras: 5 for the action sequence and 1 for the initial overview. The final edit was made using Adobe Photoshop.
