===== From brendthess@attbi.com: The tornado effect was definitely better than the others in the competition visually, although animationwise it was (IMO) a bit weak. ===== From tek@evilsuperbrain.com: It would have been nice to see more 3D animation, since 2D animation isn't really eligible for the IRTC. But the little section of 3D you do have is quite good, particularly the way the particles get dragged up in the tornado. ===== From evilsnack@hotmail.com: Very little 3d modelling to speak of. ===== From maarten_hofman@hotmail.com: The actual raytracing part of the animation is so short and badly damaged due to compression (?) that it is difficult to rate this animation. ===== From martin@simaltech.com: Good implementation of the theme but short on 3D. ===== From chris_darcy_irtc@yahoo.com.au: Good story. I felt that there wasn't a lot of ray-tracing going on. Picture quality a little chunky. Otherwise excellent. All the best ===== From bill@apocalypse.org: The voice-over certainly ties the piece together, though the story itself is a little flat, just a "slice of life". The one small scene of a tornado hiting the silo was quick and simple. I did like the radar effect, with the pac-man like formation and I thought it was going to lead to more, but then it seemed to fizzle. ===== From jonathan@scudder.no: Nice idea, but not too much animation ;-) ===== From jouni@mikrobitti.fi: The animation's duration mostly consisted of less-interesting stuff. The Pacman was cool, but the hit of the tornado was just a small flick with one predefined particle emitter. I'm not saying that your animation is bad, so don't take me wrong. However, I am saying that had you spent your time focusing on one part of your "newsflash", you could've done it considerably better. Now it feels a bit like cut-pasting incompatible stuff together. ===== From p_chan@shaw.ca: My feeling is that too much of the animation time is used by 2D segments, and needs a longer 3D tornado sequence. The particle motion of the debris in the tornado sequence is done well, and the barn also looks fairly nice. ===== From quinet@gamers.org: Unfortunately, the animation consists mostly of 2D frames and only 10 seconds of real 3D animation (with only a limited number of moving parts). It also seems to suffer a lot from the compression. If you want to redo this animation later, you should try to focus more on the 3D part (moving the camera around, adding more objects, etc.) and less on the "TV news" part. Also, you should play with the compression settings for the MPEG file and try to get a better quality output. ===== From batronyx@alliancecable.net: Pac-man radar idea was brilliant. ===== From glenn@mccarters.net: Clever approach and funny. But a little weak on the actual animation. Too many text screens and too little moving models. Gotta love that completely unintentional Pac-man effect, though :-) ===== From irtc_mail@yahoo.co.uk: This is a very large file for only a few seconds of 3D animation. There is too much static text and the touchdown sequence was too blocky to see anything. I think the company that owns the copyright on PacMan will be after you if they see the radar sequence. ===== From file: Not bad, not much story, though.
