===== From sshelby@shelbyvision.com: Mostly very well done, except there are some things about the way the lighthouse falls and the way it bobs in the water that seem very unrealistic to me. ===== From rich@brickbots.com: I read the text file and I really feel for you on both the time and MPG encoding issues. I liked this one a lot because it showed an end that was avoided in the real world. Generic Note: I really enjoyed watching these animations, but I personally think that pointing out the low points of an animation help more than pointing out the high points. As such, I usually only mention the problems. Please don't take it the wrong way :-) Technical: It was all too dark to see much detail. I think you were going for a dark feeling, but it can be gloomy and dark without hiding so much of the detail I can see sometimes. The indoor shots were nice, and I really like the shutters blowing in the wind. Perhaps this is related to the last minute change of grass, but it is really, really green. Also a bit uniform, try layering procedural textures, especially using one to blend two others, to give both large scale changes, and small scale variability. The lightning was convincing, if a bit too long for each bolt. I think you could have made the it brighter and with more strobing and shorter overall illumination and it would have worked a bit better. Artistic: A mixed bag here. I liked your choice of camera shots for the most part, but it was just too dark to appreciate even after adjusting my gamma. The interior shots were especially nice. Theme: The favorite part of this animation for me was what you did with the theme. It intrigued me that this was an end that never actually was. Sort of a wild flight of imagination. Rich at brickbots dot com ===== From Markus.Altendorff@asamnet.de: Thinks i liked: + storm shaking the window blinds + small parts falling off + camera movement inside the lighthouse Things i didn't like: - lighthouse crashing into the sea: more like a twig, what with the floating and all... - i'm impressed with the durability of the light... - water material wasn't that great. Some fog-like qualities and transparency could help to fight the impression of the lighthouse falling into quicksilver or some other non-transparent medium. ===== From irtc_mail@yahoo.co.uk: Both the textures and the animation here came across as being too simplistic. I think you have made things difficult by chosing a theme where almost every shot needs some spectacular special effects. We are seeing a lightning storm, waves crashing against a cliff, a beam of light cutting through the mist, a cliff breaking up and crashing into the sea, a lighthouse crashing into the sea, a torrent of water flooding into the lighthouse and the lighthouse sinking. All very difficult to do with just simple models and textures. ===== From file: looks very nice, but not all that interesting Notable for modelling, composition
