===== From klynn@telefish.net: A fun animation. Be careful not to use copyrighted music! ===== From sshelby@shelbyvision.com: I like this; very entertaining, well done, and original. My only problem with it is I'm not sure what it is the end of. ===== From emperorofrome@yahoo.com: I like your concept, but the background is just too basic ===== From rich@brickbots.com: "That is!! Have fun :)" - Indeed I did. This was one of the most fun animations to watch. Techincal: I gave this a pretty high technical score for two main reasons. One, it was simple, but well executed. The renderer was used to good effect, and the lighting was well done giving a sense of depth and a strong direction to the lighting without being too dark in the shadow areas. Two, the animation was genuinely well done. Although the motions were simple, the timing and spacing were very nice with appropriate ease most of the time. The part when the ball pushes the blocks perhaps could have had a better sense of weight, but maybe the boxes are real light? Artistic You used the simple scenery and characters to good effect. I personally would have avoided the shiney ball and the reflective tea-pot as they are a bit cliche in the CG world. I liked the way you used the camera motion to compliment the motion of the ball. Also how you allowed the ball to wander without the camera frame, very nice. Theme Not sure... I don't see how this really is the end of something. Certainly it was entertaining.. but what was it an end of. The end of the red ball being lonely? The end of the ball iteself? I was kind of puzzled by the thrust of the story. Have questions about my comments? Rich at brickbots dot com ===== From evilsnack@hotmail.com: Baffling concept. ===== From Markus.Altendorff@asamnet.de: Quite good from a technical and storytelling point of view, really. However, it seems a bit off topic for "the end of", doesn't it? ===== From irtc_mail@yahoo.co.uk: The ball sometimes does not look like it is moving itself. I think it would look better if it was 'leaning forwards' to make itself roll along and leaning left and right as it slaloms rather than staying upright. Also, the squashing looks too symmetrical when it pushes the blocks sideways. It gets thinner on both sides but stays the same height. I would have expected it to squash more on one side and get taller. It is not clear what the ball is doing on top the the teapot, and when it is jumping on the teapot, it looks more like it is being pulled up than pushing itself up. The teapot model needs more polygons to make it look as smooth as the ball. Also, during the jumping/falling in sequence, it looks like the back of the teapot is not casting shadows. I think the ball goes too high after squeezing out of the spout. It would have no way of getting back down in time. Why does the teapot come alive at the end? It wasn't a trap that was sprung by the teapot. The ball just fell in, then managed to get itself out. The teapot should have made a move to capture the ball for the soundtrack to make sense. Some sort of 'face' on the ball would have helped. It is not always clear which way it is facing. The only thing I really did not like about this was the over complex camera movements. The worst example of this is where, in one continuous shot, the camera catches the ball landing, then anticipates the ball's next move by spinning to the place it will land next, then spins round and shoots into the air to watch the ball run away, then drops to the ground and moves in an arc along the ground to catch the teapot laughing and then moves closer to the teapot. ===== From file: simple and yet very cute. where're the credits for the music?
