MPGFILE: rusty028.mpg RENDERER USED: POV-Ray 3.6.1 TOOLS USED: POV-Ray, pen & paper, CMPEG CREATION TIME: About six weeks HARDWARE USED: 2GHz Celeron laptop & Athlon 2400 desktop ANIMATION DESCRIPTION: Rusty used to be a track star. VIEWING RECOMMENDATIONS: 24 frames per second DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS ANIMATION WAS CREATED: I typed out a bunch of scene code, rendered the frames, and slapped them together with an MPEG compiler, just like I always do. New models for this round: * The stadium * Other models for ideas that were abandoned and aren't seen here The audience in the stadium consists of four of the robot designs you've seen in the series so far (Rusty, Boxer, Domo and Joe), randomly chosen, colored, and positioned in the stands. Since there is room for thousands of robots in the stands, I scripted the code so that robots which are off-camera are not included in the scene, which saves me many hundreds of megabytes of memory; as it was, memory usage was often over 200MB, which my 192MB laptop did not like very much. I was glad to have my 512 MB Athlon box out of storage. As those of you who have looked at the povray.binaries. images group on the news.povray.org server have probably guessed, I was running with a different idea, but scratched it due to time contraints. Blame Diablo II! If you have any other questions about things, e-mail me directly, or leave comments on the comments page.
