TITLE: Surfing the Scrapers COUNTRY: USA WEBPAGE: http://www.apocalypse.org/pub/u/bill/raytrace RENDERER USED: Povray 3.0.2 TOOLS USED: AVI2MPG1 and Videdit CREATION TIME: 16 days HARDWARE USED: 300 MHz Pentium II VIEWING RECOMMENDATIONS: ActiveMovie for Windows 95/NT works well ANIMATION DESCRIPTION: This animation shows a mysterious figure on a surf-board cruising between sky-scrapers. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS ANIMATION WAS CREATED: I created the frames using the standard animation support in Povray for Windows. Each of the camera changes has around 90 frames in it. I worked on each separately in parallel (modeling one while I rendered the previous one). As a result, I had to re-do the first 3 parts because of objects I added to the later parts being missing. All along, I was using Videdit to create and AVI file so that I could view the animation. I often converted to MPG using AVI2MPG1 to check to see if my file size was still in range. As I added camera cuts to my animation, I spliced them into the full animation using Videdit. The scene where the surfing takes a sharp turn while the camera floats above him was actually spliced in near the end to add some spice to the movie.
