Author: Michael Sanchez (my first real scene!) Images: Boxing Robots(robots.jpg),Boxing Robots2(robots2.jpg) Programs Used: Povcad 4.0, Povray 2.2 Comments: Remember those boxing robots where you tried to knock the other guy's head off? I took that toy as a theme and futurized it. Instead of plastic robots with an arm that simply extends, imagine playing with holograms and full range of motion. Also, instead of Transformers as a theme, I've used the elementals. I've got the water elemental delivering the final blow to the fire elemental. Didn't have time for earth and sky. The two comabtants are imaged above an oval projector and I threw in the funky background and floor just because. Note the "glowing" head on the water guy. The water elemental has a slightly different texture in the two images, but you can't really tell. I really ran out of time on this. I created it in about 1.5 weeks and most of the textures are created from scratch. The water man uses a bump_map from a .tga file created with Povray. The fire guy is supposed to look like lava or something, but the waves didn't show up as well as I wanted. I used Povcad to create most of the shapes in the figure, but hand-positioned them, as well as made some minor adjustments. Textures are hand-typed, except for the marble floor (include file tex), and some finishes (used the "Glossy" finish a lot.) Comments are welcome (indeed, requested) at: msanche@ux5.cso.uiuc.edu P.S. render times were ~1h for robots.jpg and ~2h for robots2. Both on neworked RS/6000s (Probably both take ~1h on stand-alone)
