djs_tube - Entry for May/June 95 comp.graphics.raytracing competition ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Author: David Stevenson (hoagy@cix.compulink.co.uk) Date: 13 June 1995 Subject: Science The scene is simple; a bench on which is placed a rack of test tubes, containing some red substance. A pipette with more of the substance also lies on the table. The substance wasn't supposed to look like blood, that's just the way it came out! The source is constructed by hand, but didn't take long as it's fairly simple. What _did_ take a long time was the rendering; all that glass really slows things down. It took over 60 hours on a Sparc Station 2, using POVray 2.2, 800x600, default anti-aliasing turned on. Files: djs_tube.jpg The picture, 800x600x24, JPEG/JFIF compressed. djs_tube.txt This readme djs_tube.zip Source, except for a pair of GIF texture maps.
