TITLE: DNA Strands SIZE: 800x600 TOPIC: Science ARTIST: Jon R. Sime TRACER: POV Ray 2.2 SYSTEM: Pentium 90 8/850 MODELLER: Moray 1.54 TIME: 6.35.29 NOTES: This image was created on a computer using software. But, not just any software, or any computer! No! It was created on MY computer with software I downloaded! Actually, on a slightly more serious tone, this is my very first contribution to this competition, so go easy on me, okay? I've only been into ray-tracing for a short while, and that was all with other tools on other systems. This was my first serious image in POV (beyond a couple other runs to get the feel of the program). Now, about the image. I realize that having to describe in detail an image for people to understand it, then that is a testament to the quality of the work. However, I should probably just say one thing about the image. Those spheres that may look like they're reflecting the large DNA strand are bubbles with individual strands inside them. POV Ray Information on the Image (post-tracing): Rays Calculated: 3,980,816 Pixels Calculated: 480,800 Pixels Supersampled: 30,554 Shadow Ray Tests: 38,474,290 Shadow Cache Hits: 1,335,492 Blocking Objects Found: 17,763,244 Reflected Rays: 1,943,551 Refracted Rays: 1,387,657 Calls to DNoise Routine: 10 10 Lights, 8 Textures, 130 primitives
