JCMSCOPE.JPG (c) Joel R. Cheves 1995 ************************* About the image: All of the various primitives were created and positioned using PovCad v.4.01. Sweeps were incorporated to create the Bunsun burner base, supports for the arm-upright & pillar, and the flame. (Cyan with 2 different filters) The slide clips are extrusions. Now for the interesting part. The upright arm, slide platform, & base, were created as follows: First, I opened CorelDraw and a previously created FONT file that I set up for designing symbols. To scale, I designed a 2D object for each. After exporting and installing this updated font in Windows, I used Neil Clarks' F3DSHEL in conjuction with Todd Praters' FONT3D11 to extrude, bevel etc. The final include files for these objects were produced with Rob's Triangle smoother. A round-about method perhaps, but lacking a modeler, necessity is the mother of ...etc., etc. The hose was generated with Robt. Flores' Worm v5.a; and Truman Browns' Connect the dots (CDTS v3.0). Time Line of Science.. the Beaker. This one is for you to decide! (If you don't believe it, trace it!) The Targa image was traced using PovRay v.2; JPEG image converted with Graphic Workshop. Thanks to all the TRUE SCIENTISTS out there for developing the programs that let those of use who call ourselves ARTISTS run amuck in this new medium! ... jrc
