MADSCTST: --------- * By Kevin Phillips, Auckland, New Zealand kphill@iconz.co.nz * Created 6-May-1995 * Used: Moray 1.54 Povray 2.12 * Files: MADSCTST.JPG - Image file, 75% MADSCTST.TXT - This text file MADSCTST.ZIP - POV scene file * Trace: 4 hrs 37 min 28 secs on a 486 DLC-40 (8 Mb). The Image presented for the May/June competition is that of a Mad Scientist glaring at his evil experiments in a testube! How did I do it? --------------- The entire image was fairly simple to design. It uses primitives only. Ok, lets take a looksee... The Testubes: ------------ The testubes are CSG objects (MERGE) created from a Cylinder and Sphere, with a torus used as the Rim on the top. The texture used was Glass - Thats the reason the damn thing took 4.5 hours to trace! The Testube Holder: ------------------ Another CSG object using an elongated cube as the top with three cylinders to cut holes in it using DIFFERENCE (DMFWOOD5 texture was used). Two Chrome cylinders were used to provide a stand for the holder. The MAD Scientist: ----------------- I wanted a Cartoony looking character with a semi-evil glance on its face. The head was a simple cylinder - made a sort of Oval shape. The eyes are constructed from 4 discs and 2 cones. One smaller disk provides the Pupil, and by scaling and rotating the cones, the brows are created. The Teeth are 10 small cubes. Each one rotated 9 degrees more then the other, joined as a union, and adjusted to fit the head. Take a look at the POV file for more. Kev.
