IMAGE: mkscienc.jpg (800x600) by Matt Kruse (mkruse@saunix.sau.edu) For the May-June raytracing competition: "Science" Since I have quite a bit to do and not a lot of time to do it, I couldn't spend much time doing an image for this month. So, I decided to do something simple but original. I figured we'd see enough molecules :). I opened up my old physics book and look through it for an interesting problem that I could render in a small amount of time. I came up with this one, since it was a short problem and wouldnt be too hard to model. I typed the problem in Word in a 100-point font, then screen-captured it using Hijack Pro. I used this as a height_field. The spring consists of a few thousand spheres. I wrote a quick perl script to do this for me. Other than that, it's very basic.
