mayjun96-additional ------------------- From the "au" domain: Overal Fun to look at... From the "com" domain: It would be helpful to catenate all of the .txt files together so that we could, for example, grep it to find all images that were made with a particular tool, or by a particular person. From the "net" domain: This competition had some great art!! Good job, keep up with the competitions... From the "edu" domain: I guess a lot of people had the same idea as I had at first: hourglass. Although some of them are rather good, it seems that it's slightly unoriginal. Other than that, there seems to be a lot of image maps and stock textures used whereas it seems a competition such as this would be a good chance for people to experiment with their own textures... From the "uk" domain: What a lot of images. (How about a button so we don't keep having to go backwards and forwards, or a button). A good effort from all the contributors, I'm glad that the competition is back. From the "ca" domain: Nice turnout for the first competition. From the "ca" domain: Every picture is great... I knew that people were going to ray-trace pictures of sundials, clocks, watches, and hourglasses... I liked the ones that didn't have watches & trinkets involved more. From the "edu" domain: You need to do something with the images here. It's torture doing this over a 14.4 modem and I had to drop it and go over to work to do this! But, great competition though! From the "net" domain: There were too many hourglasses and sundials. Too many cliches. And some of the more *obscure* pictures could use some brief explanation from the artist. From the "com" domain: The display page for voting should have a medium-gray background rather than bright white. The bright white background tends to make the darker or dimmer images look really black by contrast. A more neutral background would be fairer. From the "uk" domain: All the pictures where of an incredibly high standard, I only wish I could afford the time to make comments on all the pictures. My congratulations to all the parcipitants of this competition. From the "nz" domain: I suspect that the ranking system you have is not perfect. Since each person gets 10 votes, I suspect these will all go to the best images, and most of the images will get no ranking at all. We will have to wait and see, I guess. From the "nz" domain: I found the quantity and quality of the images in the competition to be astounding. I was worried about voting for images that contained texture maps as it can be hard to determine what is textured mapped and what is hard work. What happened to the artists description of and details about their work? Maybe a language problem. Looking forward to seeing the results from the next competition. From the "se" domain: Way too many pictures. It's a lot of work to got through them all. I don't have any proposal on how to limit the amount, though... From the "com" domain: Great job by all. Very difficult to narrow down to ten, much less rank those ten. From the "net" domain: This page may be too large. I am running my Netscape 2.0 Browser, winsock, and program manager, on Win3.11, and this page pulled me down to 3% GDI Resources. Hope my vote goes through ! Don Jager From the "ch" domain: .. the first try the buttons didn't appear... .. what about putting them after the nominated images? CU, MiG From the "com" domain: Look people... You may think you've come up with an original idea for your trace. Odds are you haven't. Try it again, and then toss that idea out too. When you think of the third idea, then run with that one, because the first two have already been submitted by 17 other people. Capic? From the "com" domain: It would be nice if we could read the authors' comments, if any, to at least see any attributions they may have made for objects, textures, etc. I believe that realism is the best goal of raytracing, so I judge on models and textures. I would tend to discount for other people's models. From the "com" domain: Quite a good batch of pictures! The competition comes of age! From the "com" domain: A button on your web site which allowed the downloading of all the images would be most useful. That would also encourage people to get all the images rather than just selecting the ones that look good in thumbnail. From the "net" domain: a LOT of good entries! From the "edu" domain: absolutely amazing. From the "com" domain: It's been too long since I checked out this site and the contest. Kudos to the organizers for doing it. From the "edu" domain: Id have to say that the quality level of these images is incredible. I participated in the old competition but there was rarely this level of skill on so many images. Its going to be a tough competition! From the "uk" domain: It is obvious that most people havent used POV. I think the competition should really be split in two, for those using POV and for any other packages From the "us" domain: I hope to take part next time From the "za" domain: Thes are all high class images. It is VERY difficult to find the top ten winners. From the "com" domain: all of the entries are very nice, they should be applauded for their efforts and talents. From the "ca" domain: Very impressive turnout! From the "ca" domain: The excessive use of watches, clocks, and other timepieces as a theme was distressing. I was therefore especially impressed with Steven Kazemir's Sunset. An altogether original subject and incredible work also. From the "com" domain: Just testing
