JPGFILE: splane.jpg RENDERER USED: PovRay 3.0 beta TOOLS USED: Povsb, Povray, HeightMap HARDWARE USED: Pentium 120 mhz IMAGE DESCRIPTION: Sail Plane flying through hell. Extensive use of Halo. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: I was trying to do something that would have a lot more dynamic action and less of a sterile non- moving image that 3d has a tendency to illustrate. Besides that I was trying to use a lot less math than I normally do with my renderings. The sailing plane is a csg modeled in Povsb with only the standard shapes included with the program. To insure a lot of contrast with the vast use of _Halo_ I tended to use little or no bumps, waves, etc, in the normals. The Height map was with the Heightmap program. I tried many combinations of color mapping but decided the default mapping was the most enteresting and reacted well with the halos. There are three large halos in the scene not including the halo on top of the light house. The atmosphere was with a black hollow box with spherical mapping. The river of fire is two halo fields on top of each other scaled larger than the containing sphere so as to eliminate the ghosting that comes from stacking more than one halo field. Well_. That_s it. It is a simple rendering. I hope you feel the artistic abilities of Povray and the other Pov related programs show through with this rendering. Maybe I can show that 3d rendering does not have to be relatively sterile but can also involve motion to a degree. In the future I will be working further on that aspect. Thank You for your vote(If I got it. He He).
