TITLE: Winter's Window NAME: Adam Parrish COUNTRY: United States of America EMAIL: myth@alinc.com WEBPAGE: http://www.alinc.com/~myth TOPIC: Glass COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. JPGFILE: apwindow.jpg ZIPFILE: apwindow.zip RENDERER USED: Pov-Ray v3.0 TOOLS USED: PSP (for conversion), graph paper, and a #2 bic mechanical pencil RENDER TIME: 9 hours 42 minutes HARDWARE USED: 486DX4/100 w/16m RAM IMAGE DESCRIPTION: A slightly surrealistic scene. A window, made of something resembling stained glass, sitting in a dusty cathedral. A winter tree is pictured in the window, illuminating the room, waiting for Spring. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: Perhaps surprisingly, this entire image was designed and implemented without a modeller or other computer art programs. Every line in the window was specifically placed by me. Not an easy task, but most of the time and effort in this image was spent perfecting the lighting and the textures, and most especially the atmosphere. I believe the result is at least acceptable; at most, artistic. Of course, "artistic" was my aim for this image. My last image entered in the IRTC, like many others, was simply a set of CSG objects thrown together haphazardly; little if no "artistic" effort was put into it. This image, however, is different (I hope). I've spent most of my waking hours putting the picture of this scene in my head, and I think that I've translated that to "reality" satisfactorily. Please tell me what you think! Adam Parrish myth@alinc.com
