JPGFILE: jars.jpg ZIPFILE: jars.zip RENDERER USED: Povray 3.0 for windows TOOLS USED: Breeze 2.0, Paint Shop Pro RENDER TIME: Most of February............47 hr. 35 min. 24 sec. HARDWARE USED: AMD DX4/133, 16 meg ram IMAGE DESCRIPTION: This is a fairly common scene here in Oklahoma. Everyone has a storm cellar and they always seem be filled with lots of old jars, and horrid little black spiders. If this scene were to be really true to life there would also be a couple of scorpions, a thick coating of dust, and lots more spider webs. Sometimes I think it might be safer to take my chances with the tornado, than go in the cellar. As far as the scorpions and spider webs go....well, I just ran out of time. I Had to get this image done and sent. As far as the dust goes.....I haven_t got a clue how to do it. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: Everything is basic shapes and textures and umpteeen gazillion csg. operations. I also used the "#while" function for a few of the repetitive operations. The writing on the jars was made from taking rubbings from actual jars, scanning them, and tinkering with them in Paint Shop Pro. Then I used those images in height fields for the different brands of jars. The wire clips for the old jar lids were made from torus parts. There must be a better way to make a loop than that but that_s how I did it. I made the spider on Breeze 2.0 because breeze makes it a lot easier to assemble lots of little parts, like the spiders' legs. The worst part about this scene was the stress and strain on my poor little computer (check the render time). I would kill for a pentium 200.
