EMAIL: rwb0517@garnet.acns.fsu.edu NAME: Rik Bain TOPIC: Glass COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. TITLE: Eye of the Storm COUNTRY: USA WEBPAGE: http://garnet.acns.fsu.edu/~rwb0517 RENDERER USED: Povray 3.0 TOOLS USED: None RENDER TIME: 2 hours 36 minutes HARDWARE USED: Pentium-120 IMAGE DESCRIPTION: I have had the Eye of the Storm for about 8 years, and have been wondering how much longer it will hold on ( yes, it still works ). It usually sits on my TV but since the my TV is absent from the image, I decided to put it on my coffee table, which just so happens to be made of... ...Glass. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: Actually it started with my immortalization of my Eye of the Storm, which is just a box, couple of cylinders, and two CSG spheres to make the glass ball. Then I cut out the sliders for the switches and used half cylinders for the actual switches. The text is Arial.ttf, which was integrated using the wonderful text{} command. The table is cylinders for the tube base with a superellipsoid for the glass base. As for the rest of the scene, I used a yellow/red wood pattern, which may or may not have been used before, and the wallpaper is a crackle pigment map. The dartboard and dart set is from one of my first images, it is not glass related, but upon creating it/them, I was very impressed what could be done without using modellers and the such.
