TITLE: The Surface of Boy NAME: Gilles L_vy COUNTRY: France EMAIL: ae_plume@club-internet.fr TOPIC: Maths and Physic COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. JPGFILE: glboy.jpg ZIPFILE: glboy.zip RENDERER USED: POVRAY 3.0 for Windows TOOLS USED: MORAY2.5 RENDER TIME: HARDWARE USED: Pentium 266Mhz IMAGE DESCRIPTION: Simply two representations of the Surface of Boy. This surface was created by Mr Boy in 1901. Imagine you paste the border of a disc on the border of a ruban of Moebius : you have the surface of Boy. The analytic definition of this surface was found in 1980. It can be seen as a set of ellipses. The surface has one pole and its courbure is null. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: I used MORAY2.5 only to place the objects and have textures. The ability to make some programmation is the wonderfull thing I extensivly used. I'm aware of the lack of composition of this image, but i'm just decovered this competition last month. Finally, I'm VERY, VERY sorry for my poor english...
