TITLE: deadly prophecy NAME: Saring Stefan COUNTRY: Germany EMAIL: eddie@inf-gr.htw-zittau.de TOPIC: Magic COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT JPGFILE: prophecy.jpg ZIPFILE: prophecy.zip RENDERER USED: POV-Ray 3.0 TOOLS USED: Moray 2.0 for DOS; xemacs, gimp 0.54 and POV-Ray 3.0 for Linux RENDER TIME: 1 hour, 3 minutes HARDWARE USED: K5 100, 32 MByte IMAGE DESCRIPTION: This image shows a kind of "working room" of a magician. The sign on the wall is old german and represents the art of magic. On the painting you can see the omnipresent ghost of death. This ghost has announced himself through the magic sphere. The magician was of course very frightened, he drank off a bottle of wine and escaped panically into the night. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: For modelling this picture I used almost only the DOS-Modeller Moray 2.0. Most objects in the scene are primitives, so I think that it is not necessary to explain them. The torches and the book are also groups of primitives. For creating the window I used a CSG-object, which subtracts from the wall a cube and a cylinder. In the window I set some cylinder-sticks, so it looks like a window with a grid in it. The bottle of wine and the wine-glass are bezier-cylinders, which are easy to create with the bezier-editor in Moray. Most of the image-maps I used, I scanned from some books and CD- covers. I don't remember the origin from the textures of the wall and the dark wood. For the flames I wrote an include-file, where I defined a special halo-texture. This texture I put on a vertical-stretched spehere, which is placed directly over the torches. Look's like a flame, does'nt it ? Stefan Saring 23.08.97
