JPGFILE: jazz.jpg ZIPFILE: jazz.zip RENDERER USED: Persistence of Vision 3.02 TOOLS USED: My head and some graph paper RENDER TIME: Around 45 Minutes HARDWARE USED: Pentium 100 w/ 16mb RAM IMAGE DESCRIPTION: Simple. It's a jazz player's trumpet, an 8th note, a treble clef and a few accidentals. I have only been using POV-Ray for a few months now, and this is my first entry to the IRTC. It is also only my second complete scene I've done with POV-Ray, and I am very pleased with the results. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: The trumpet is modeled completely in CSG. It consists of a lot of cylinders and torii, a lathe, and a few spheres. This took about 3 days working on it for an hour a day(so I wouldn't start to hate it). The musical notaions are text objects from a True Type Font I got with a MIDI sequencer(the font, jazz.ttf, is included in jazz.zip). The texture for the Trumpet was done by hand. The finishes for the notes were also done by hand and then brought in to Texture Magic and copied over and then I added the different pigments. I put all the textures in a Texture Magic catalog that is included in jazz.zip. It rendered quickly on my machine, but I forgot to note the time that it took to render. It was somewhere around 45 minutes.
