Model-T Ford introduced in 1908 was the first car designed for mass market. Manufacturing costs were cut by introducing assembly line system on the factories. Some authors claim that it was a kind of revolution in the automobile industry. The car was so successful that it's production continued until 1927 with over 16 million examples built. The original T was simple, lacked a lot of fancy equipment, and the choice of paint was rather limited. So I decided to make a number of "improvements" to it in the style of 50's-60's hot-rods. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: This is the most advanced 3D-model I've done so far. It's very detailed, unfortunately 800x600 is too low image size to view all of it. I used a lot of literature and visited local car museum to get familiar with the subject, and be able to reproduce all the objects correctly. Most of this is hand-coded in POV-Ray text editor, except for the car body and smashed cans ( low right corner ), made with sPatch. The ground is a heightfield and a reflective plane. Patterns on the seats and tyres are slope maps. The path for the door object is made with 3DStudio. Graphics on the side of the car is done with CorelDraw. Number "14" has no special meaning, consider year 1914, for example. The source is included.
