JPGFILE: tbhdisc.jpg RENDERER USED: POVRay 3.0 for Win TOOLS USED: - Moray 2.5 for creating modells - POVRay 3.02 Win for creating textures - Corel DRAW 7.0 and Photoshop 4.0 for some textures - Photoshop 4.0 for converting picture to JPG format RENDER TIME: 9h 45min HARDWARE USED: Pentium 133 40 Mb IMAGE DESCRIPTION: This picture represents one of the biggest engineering achievements after the microprocessor (computer science), hard disc. Books as a pure synonym for old ways of storing data, now compared with the modern/new way where hard discs took over the lead role. The hard disc on the right is open to show the inside. The pen and glasses added just to increase the complexity of the picture. Without hidden meanings. True, the pen could be explained as a primitive writing tool and be compared with a keyboard. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: When the idea for this picture came up, my first intention was to do/write it all in POVRay but I gave up on that `cause I have some pretty bad experiences with the scene writing - it simply takes too much time to do it. All models in the picture are made in Moray 2.5 modeller (through which are also composed in the scene). Every model is specially done and at the end composed into unique space. After the scene was finished, I added textures to objects. Most of the textures made in Moray, additionally finished, some of them even re-written in POVRay. Hard disc textures (labels) drawn in Corel DRAW 7.0 and exported in tga picture format. Later on opened in Photo Shop 4.0 where converted in 8 bit color depth. While adding textures in POVRay some colors turned transparent. The picture is mostly done from basic objects which are used in Constructive Solid Geometry. Bezier patch also used for adding two or three pages to the top of the books. For lighting up -area light- used in order to achieve more realistic experience of shadows and of the picture in general. Forgot to mention that books textures (I used the POVRay Help text) are made in Word 7.0. and switched over to Photo Shop using Print Screen operation. The same way the top & the bottom of the page are switched over; finished in Photo Shop. I would like to pay credit to my friend Sanja for if there wasnt for her, I probably wouldnt be (that) motivated for this kind of project. Tnx.
