It had only a distant pointlight in it, so it was quite dim. A few days later I saw that the topic was night and desided to use this image as a ground for an entry. It wasn't much more than a box and the stairs sitting on a checkered floor. The first thing that was done, was to get a new texture for the ground plane. Then the stairs were shaped up a litle bit and the checkered part of the box was added. Now on to the completly new part. The poles and glass walls were quite quick to put in place. The small extensions on the poles were made with CSG's. I also had the intention of putting doors on the temple, but due to the lack of time they were not finished. You can find some fragments of the doors in the check2.inc. The next thing that I did was to put a roof on top of the poles. They didn't look like they could withstand the pressure, so a set of pillars seemed needed. As plain cylinders they looked to plain, so a slightly bent form was made with a sor object and some boxes as "feet". The roof got a small workover and made a nice site for a light source that could highlight an object in the centre of the temple. I had my mind set on a diamond shaped object, but after some tests I wanted something new. After some sketching I decided on a heart (I think I made a quite nice object without a modeller). Again, time made me compromise and the conversion of the mesh to smooth triangles was aborted. Some work on an atmosphere took quite some time and didn't produce the results I wanted. A rework to halos made it look better but they took to much time to be a part of the final rendering. To make a better night scene a moon was placed in the sky. After some thinking, the ground plane was replaced by a sphere plane difference and the "sun" could now be placed so it only lit the moon and not the rest of the scene. To make the scene look a little better a "road" and some street lights were added. At first a more complex street light was used. But the rendering time was too long. As you might know, a faster computer is always needed!!! If you like to use any of my objects, please email me to get my aproval.
