===== From cmorack@relex.com: During the eclipse of the sun, Fred, the amateur astronmer, suddenly looks to his right. "Oh my! What's on my wall!" And Fred wheels his twelve-thousand power telescope over to peer at his wall, which seems to be undergoing a coniption. No wonder why. It has to be a wall on the side of Fred's house. ===== From Revera@concentric.net: good use of theme, the glass on end of the scope is wrong, the reflection of the clouds should not be so great on it. ===== From agage@mines.edu: Nice overall, though I wonder what kind of firmament the house is built on... ===== From Martin.Magnusson.7121@student.uu.se: The telescope is good, but the texture on the white fence looks odd. It seems to be stretched on the long cylinders, did you apply it before scaling the cyinder, maybe? ===== From dormammu@erols.com: I think the sky looks fine :> Very good picture.. you should've showed the entire eclisped sun, however, not just a portion of it. ===== From bill@apocalypse.org: been there, done that. The telescope looks great, the eclipse looks flat. ===== From ethelm@bigfoot.com: The telescope is very nicely done. ===== From gmccarter@hotmail.com: Very good modelling on the telescope, it looks quite realistic. Some of the other objects in the scene need work: - a welcome mat? but there is no entrance onto this balcony, it is surrounded by railings! - is the railing made of marble? Then it would be very weak and brittle. - which way does the door open? Is the handle on the wrong side? The water level looks too high -- what happens if it floods? The sky and water are fine, but the sky-to-water interface is always a difficult transition. Try adding a fog to the scene to blend this transition. Good wood pattern on the planks, but they all look like they were carved from one single block of wood. Try changing the texture for every piece of wood. ===== From djconnel@flash.net: Nice interpretation of the theme, and nice modeling on the telescope! The balcony, despite its relative simplicity, is also very nicely done. And the rendering of the ecclipse is very good. Two areas of potential improvement are the clouds, water, and lighting (whoops -- that's 3 :)). The clouds don't quite look right -- they are too white. The waves could use some work as well. And finally the general lighting doesn't make a lot of sense. But overall it is quite a nice work! ===== From peter@table76.demon.co.uk: The planks/floorboards seem to line up too well; using a warp repeat ought to make them more like real planks. ===== From r@dial-up30.webbernet.net: The house is good. The rocklike texture on the railing seems unnatural. A wood or metal texture would be better. The solar corona could use a bead or two. The clouds are a little too bright. The water needs to either be a height field or have a more emphatic normal. The telescope modelling is good. The telescope texture needs a little crand and maybe a bit more shine and a subtle normal.
