TITLE: Desert at night NAME: Micha Riser COUNTRY: Switzerland EMAIL: mriser@datacomm.ch WEBPAGE: http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Pines/7992/ TOPIC: night COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. JPGFILE: desert.jpg ZIPFILE: desert.zip RENDERER USED: povray 3.0 for LINUX TOOLS USED: none RENDER TIME: 3 hours 45 minutes HARDWARE USED: Pentium 166MMX IMAGE DESCRIPTION: Desert. Night. Everybody thinks that there must be calm and silence. But is that really true? No! There - far away from every civilisation, neon lights and discos - the cacti have assembled around a camp fire, they are having their own party. Playing the guitar, singing, dancing, drinking - the cacti seem to have a lot of fun! Well, I suppose the cactus in the foreground had drunken something too much whisky (did he even empty all the four bottles by his own?), he seems not any more able to stand up. I wish the cacti a good time, don't you? DESCRIPTION: Well, I took the Windows Notepad, wrote in some POVRay code, tried until the picture looked like I wanted it to do, tortured my Computer with lots of prickles (there are more than 22000 of them - my PC has probably a prickle allergy now), rendered the final picture under LINUX and sent it to the IRTC. I used one height-field picture to make the desert; that is the only external file I used. All the other source information is in the pov-file.
