TITLE: Patio Restaurant NAME: Teddy Nishiyama COUNTRY: Japan EMAIL: tnishi@ari.ncl.omron.co.jp TOPIC: Night COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. JPGFILE: patio.jpg RENDERER USED: POV-Ray for Windows 3.02 TOOLS USED: Moray RENDER TIME: 1d 18h 55m 4s HARDWARE USED: P5-166 IMAGE DESCRIPTION: View of an outside patio restaurant in the evening. A fountain/pool in the middle of the patio, tables placed around it and lit by gas lights. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: Most of the pieces were modeled individually, and then copied and placed in a single scene. Had a very tough time with the bezier patch table cloth to try and get it into a decent shape. I also used bezier patches to do the utensils, but unfortunately, the camera angle doesn't show them from the best position. My biggest mistake was making the camera look primarily through the wine glass. I started tracing the scene with default properties including radiosity "on", and after 4 full days and only less than 35% traced, I had to give up on quality and retrace with radiosity off and a number of other sacrifices so I could get this in. (I'm going on vacation starting tomorrow and so I have to get this in today 4/23). With these sacrifices, I still only had enough time for a single trace, so I am in no way satisfied with this image, but I hope you can see the image I tried to portray. Oh, and if anyone can give me a clue as to why the supposedly round plate ended up with "corners" and how to get rid of it, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.
