===== From tlyons@gnn.com: too dark, even with my monitor turned full bright, it lost a lot of detail 8( ===== From spanky@wpi.edu: This scene is a little bit too dark, but otherwise not bad ===== From rotht@televar.com: Looks pretty smooth even without AA. The insect looks a little fake, though... ===== From scooby@pld.com: Poorly textured throughout. Simplistic model. Nice fog effect. ===== From gregj56590@aol.com: Poor contrast and/ or lighting. A very cool bug, though. ===== From d97ta@efd.lth.se: the bug is the best part of this image, shame that it is only a stock model, albeit a bit modified... :( some more contrast between foreground and background would be nice. ===== From marc_w@ncx.com: i really love the h_f texture. ===== From simon.davis@altavista.net: Gamma correction, please! ===== From buck@cs.byu.edu: Nice lighting. I like the wings on the "insect" alot. The wood texture is nice, but looks more like particle board than bark. The bug could use more texture and less "shiny," though--looks kind of plastic. ===== From djconnel@flash.net: Nicely done! The scene really does need antialiasing -- it's too bad you couldn't do a workaround... The model is quite well done. However, I am not sure the tree and the bug are in proportion -- it looks to be the size of a large bird, not a bee. The background is also nicely done. I don't think the fog is bad at all. The picture has many aspects of nature -- animal, plant, mountains, water, sky, fog -- very effective. ===== From bill@apocalypse.org: Excellent use of color! great composition. One could have imagined more detail on the branch though (bark?) ===== From uwe.post@gmx.de: too dark. ===== From ethelm@bigfoot.com: Sky and distance good. Insect is a bit hard to see against background and the legs seem rather too thick. ===== From fisher2@pobox.upenn.edu: Ambient light values are too high. Makes the image look "washed out". The bump normal pattern in the branch doesn't really seem to be showing up in the picture, perhaps a greater bump deapth or change the scale.. The texture on the mountains seems unnatural. Perhaps use a gradient texture or something. ===== From arcana@sinbad.net: Not bad at all. :{) I would have forgone the reflections on the insect's body. It gives it an artificial look. One of the difficulties with making an insect that's close to the camera is getting the small details. For instance, the back end of the body should be furry. ===== From gmccarter@hotmail.com: I really like the shiny reflective black textures on the insect, even though this is not particularly realistic. The background mountains look like... heightfields. Some green vegetation would not hurt. ===== From r@199.45.245.103: Overall nice work. I agree the fog in the back is too thick, but the sky is fine. It could also use more anti-aliasing. The tree seems too smooth, perhaps some small blobs to make it knobbly.
