===== From spanky@wpi.edu: Wicked originality. This scene really is the type that makes you stop and look at it for a while. If you had put a little more work into the terrain it may have paid off even more. Good work ===== From gregj56590@aol.com: Poor lighting and/or contrast. ===== From d97ta@efd.lth.se: all i can say about this otherwise great image is that the dead planet is a bit plain. it could use some more detail, like rocks and craters... ===== From buck@cs.byu.edu: I like it! I wish more could be seen of the contents of the jar--it looks really good. I like the "terrain" in the jar, too. The bumps on the jar make for nice effects, as well. As for the surrounding landscape, it seems to "sandy." Perhaps some small pebbles and larger rocks would work to break up the monotony. ===== From djconnel@flash.net: Nicely done!!!! I deducted one tech point for the line -- you might want to fix it if you win (for the archives). Other than that, the scene is excellent. One small point : the flat planar region in the vicinity of the bottle doesn't look good -- I would have used undulating terrain, but allow the bottle to sink somewhat into the soil. Nevertheless, this is an excellent piece of work. I really like the play on the nature concept -- it is synthetic nature, in a sense. Is life in a lifeless clime synthetic or natural? Or is it the barren dust which is the natural component of the scene? The caustics are a very nice touch. This one is a worthy contender for the win. ===== From 101741.541@compuserve.com: Good idea, but slightly too dark, especially the glass. Did you use max_trace_level rightly ? ===== From fisher2@pobox.upenn.edu: The plants are kind of small, I can't really make them out. ===== From gmccarter@hotmail.com: Oooh, with just a little more light, this would be a fascinating image. Tantalizing not-quite-visible detail. ===== From r@199.45.245.103: Very nice. Unique and well-done. The jar is excellent, and the plants within look very convincing. The only weak point is the background height field, which looks too artificial. Notable for modelling, originality
