===== From rotht@televar.com: Great dual-interpretation of the meaning of "nature": both the nature of man and a natural object, an apple. Hilarious title! :-) :-> :-} ===== From gregj56590@aol.com: Nice, simple, well done image. ===== From d97ta@efd.lth.se: nice apple with ugly warts, maybe the drops should a bit more drop shaped? and why not place it in the garden of eden as well (ok, then it probably wouldn't be photoreal anymore, but you could try ;) ===== From manorton@tcnet.net: Real good image. Looks like a phot right out of a magazine. Goo use of focal blur. ===== From mmandl@aol.com: I had to take some off the artistic merit but not much for size. It is a beautiful image. ===== From buck@cs.byu.edu: Beautiful! Very amazing. The moisture on the apple looks a bit too much like blisters or something, though. Everything else is wonderful! ===== From jaime@ctav.es: Simple but effective. Nice looking, fresh and real. But a little branch and a leaf could be improved it very much. ===== From djconnel@flash.net: This is clearly a photograph : Tech=1. Just kidding --- this is excellently done! For the droplets, a short #while loop would have accomplished the placement without the need for external applications. WRT time : it is better to use the +SR, +ER, +SC, and +EC options to render only a portion of the image. This allows previewing. Also, shut off the focus, etc, during previewing to allow quick optimization of textures. The scene really needs a more interesting setting to make it the winner the apple rendering deserves. Also, a stem would have been nice. It should br 800x600... make the apple bigger. ===== From bill@apocalypse.org: apple needs a stem. ===== From 101741.541@compuserve.com: Highly realistic. The flesh is incredibly right. Frightening rendering times ! ===== From arcana@sinbad.net: Comments: There's usually a lightening/roughening of the color and texture near the stem area of the apple. The water droplets look good, be need more work on ior and color. Great image though. :{) ===== From gmccarter@hotmail.com: Looks delicious! Sharply realistic: I feel like I could reach right into the screen and grab it. Probably needs a stem-and-leaf to complete the cliche image. ===== From no13@ozemail.com.au: Superb. But what about the small bit of twig from the top ? ===== From r@199.45.245.103: WOW. This is one of the most photorealistic traces i have ever seen. This is incredible work. My one suggestion is to have fewer droplets, and as you said, get a different texture. It looks like it has warts right now. For one last touch, make the droplets blobjects, so that they are less symmetrical, as though they are in the act of sliding down th surface. I really encourag you to take care of those minor details, this one is a _keeper_. Notable for originality, modelling, composition, lighting, textures
