===== From spanky@wpi.edu: This scene is gorgeous. It's too bad that it is generated vegetation however. ===== From d97ta@efd.lth.se: pretty realistic image, especially the foreground with rocks in the water. the mountains look a bit too height-field jaggy (ok with jagged, just it's too regular) ===== From ulf.schreiber@gmx.net: Very realistic water! ===== From buck@cs.byu.edu: Very nice. I like the soft colors. the water and the rocks in it are great, too. Very nice. The mountains could use more detail, though. ===== From jaime@ctav.es: Hey! It looks good! The tech part is very interesting, I must take a look at your homepage. All is well arranged, and the camera placement is very nice. The only problem I see is that the brush plants are a bit floating iver the height_field, but I suppose you noticed it in the final render, with no time to re-render again. Great work, anyway. ===== From djconnel@flash.net: IMPRESSIVE!!! This is clearly the best computer-generated terrain image I have seen. Your toolkit is extremly impressive -- the result has a depth and a reality which demolishes the typical Bryce material. I am extremely impressed -- nice job! The only weakness : the trees and plants are too clearly duplicates of each other. A nice feature would be to replace your objects with calls to include files, which allowed some randomization of the structure. But then, with the procedural features in POV 3.1, perhaps this will become trivial. BTW, I am also impressed with : http://www.rhein-ruhr.de/~schrammel/pics/a1.jpg but can't we get a higher-resolution version? Dan Connelly djconnel@flash.net ===== From bill@apocalypse.org: wow, very nice ===== From 101741.541@compuserve.com: Wonderful, impressive ! Bryce seems pale in comparison ! Can't wait for downloading the genesis toolkit. The only thing that prevents the image to be completely photorealistic is the way light falls on the mountains : don't know exactly why, seems to lack contrast; especially when the rest of the scene is so NATURally looking ! ===== From fisher2@pobox.upenn.edu: This is probably the best of the landscape-only pics. I'll have to try out Genesis one of these days! I took some points of the concept thought because of it being a landscape-only pic. Too many of them. ===== From gmccarter@hotmail.com: This looks like a postcard. Great work. A few too many visible triangles on the height field mountains in the background. Water simulation is one of the most realistic I've ever seen. Textures and coloring are flawless. I'd like to see more variety in the foreground plants. One of the rare images where the lighting is TOO soft: the shadows on the background trees should be sharper. ===== From r@199.45.245.103: Nice work. Except for the mountains, which need to be smoothed, this is an excellent job.
