TITLE: Flower near precipice NAME: Micha Riser COUNTRY: Switzerland EMAIL: mriser@datacomm.ch WEBPAGE: http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Pines/7992/ TOPIC: nature COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. JPGFILE: fnp.jpg ZIPFILE: fnp.zip RENDERER USED: povray 3.0 for LINUX TOOLS USED: HeightField Lab RENDER TIME: about 1 hour HARDWARE USED: Pentium 166MMX IMAGE DESCRIPTION: Flower growing at the edge of a precipice in the middle of desert. Beautiness in danger. In the middle of a desert nature let thrive a plant at a place where a human being would never build something. But though its secluded and insecure position the flower is not let down by nature but three bees are taking care of it. You look from above, so that you see down the precipice and you can recognize a river passing along the valley. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: - Flower: The Blooms are made with loops and consists of cylinders. The leafs are intersection between spheres. The stalk is also done with loops. - Bees: The body consists of cylinders and spheres which are scaled and textured. The wings are prismas. - Landscape: First I wanted to created the precipice with the HeightField Lab. But because I have not used this tool ever before, I found it easier to use POV itself to create the height field image. And so I wrote the POV file "hfschl7.pov" to create it. (I did not include the hfschl7.tga in my zip-file but you get it by rendering the .pov file.) For the soul in the foreground where the fower is standing on I used the HFLab, it is a simple gforge.
