TITLE: Birth of a New World NAME: Sean Hamilton COUNTRY: USA EMAIL: Sean_Hamilton@amrcorp.com TOPIC: Nature COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. JPGFILE: nworld80.jpg RENDERER USED: POVRay 3.0 TOOLS USED: POVRay 3.0 RENDER TIME: approx 2 hrs HARDWARE USED: Pentium 166, 32MB Ram IMAGE DESCRIPTION: A young world forming in a vast sea, almost ready to begin its journey through the cosmos. The image may be a stretch for the topic 'Nature' but nothing represented here is artificial or synthethic; just presented in a different 'perspective'. This is actually the actualization of one of those images from real life that stick your head years after you should have cleared out that memory for something important. In this case it was a beach ball from childhood that had an image of the Earth on it. Something about the 'Earth' ball floating on the waves of the ocean stuck with me. So here it is. Note the rays of 'energy' eminating from the planetoid. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: My first raytraced image; it consists of a plane using ripples and wrinkles with a silver texture, a sphere partially submerged into the plane with a color-mapped agate texture (Blue, Sienna and forest green in the color map), a slate colored fog, and an orange and red halo behind the viewer, giving the 'energy' reflecting from the surface of the water. Although I still have the image, the source was lost. All coding and rendering was done in POVRay 3. Conversion to jpeg by Paint Shop Pro.
