I like the mountains and lava, but the flat area in front is distracting. 
perhaps
the heightfield should have simply sloped under the viewer.  Also, there

to be a blank spot between your mountains and sky.

Good textures in the rock/sky.
The "lava bubbles" are a key artistic detail, but they tend to throw off the
whole scale of the scene.  Are they many feet tall?  Or are the "mountains"
just little piles of rock?

However, consider using the bump pattern to create a height field -- the
lava plane detracts from the rest of the image, which is quite effective.

Also, there appears to be the notable absence of signs of lava flow,
past or present, on the rocks.

Well expressed hot atmosphere, pfeew !  Bumps are not very well suited to a
lava sea; did you try crackles (or even better : a height-field) ?
