===== From Sean_Hamilton@amrcorp.com: I like that....I wonder how many of those sticks I broke as a kid... ===== From swl7m@virginia.edu: Good start. You need to set the trace depth higher to remove the artifacts from the box top, and some of your spheres (Second box from the back, leftmost column) are more that just touching. Overall good image... ===== From gmol@my-dejanews.com: Excellent composition! Interesting how you avoided the sticks to intesect in each compartment, look good! ===== From wembly@theramp.net: I like it, it is simple yet very effective and original thought on the theme ! ===== From chris@68k.org: It would have been nice to see the holes where the nubs of the connectors go in, and the lid looks a little odd (I can't figure out how, though) but otherwise a pretty decent image. ===== From ewgr@abaddon.globalnet.co.uk: 79 hours to render?? My heart goes out to you. But your image is neat so keep trying. ===== From jsaxton@folio.com: A very nice, clean image. ===== From bobfranke@halcyon.com: You did a very nice job of stacking the marbles and arranging the sticks in the compartments. This is very tedious work. I only see one area that's not quite right, the front right compartment. One area for improvement is the wood grain. I think it should be scaled smaller. ===== From gmccarter@hotmail.com: But why are the holes missing? ===== From djconnel@flash.net: Clever idea! This is a nice use of simple modeling, and the clutter is a nice touch. A few comments: * The balls are in an unstable configuration in the box (in particular, the top level hydrogens). The bonds are more realistically oriented. * The table texture could use a bit of refinement. * The image could use more antialiasing.... this is where a Pentium II-class machine would really help! Nice job! ===== From bill@apocalypse.org: Ah, very appealing! ...and this tickles my "on-topic in a clever way" notion. These pure, clean images are the ones that attract me to raytracing. ===== From ekennedy@voyager.net: I remember those models! Clever idea. The grayish plastic was well done, but I thought the balls were just a little too perfect and shiny. Could have also used more anti-aliasing. Maybe when you get that Pentium! (Do a motherboard swap.... $160 plus RAM...) ===== From 101741.541@compuserve.com: Not a winner, but still a good image. The objects are well arranged together; Using area lights with a 486 is courageous enough, so I won't say anything about the lack of background. Maybe some reflection on the plastic shapes.. (a little tip about jpeg conversion : when you have pure red shapes, try to use a conversion soft that have a "sampling factor" parameter. I'll rcommend "SEA" (www.photodex.com), MS-DOS sharew. viewer/converter) And sPatch is freeware... ===== From r@client8788.globalnet.co.uk: Notable for composition, modelling
