===== From scooby@pld.com: Very nicely done. ===== From chris@68k.org: This is one of my favorites. Excellent layout and sense of hugeness. ===== From guilhem.christol@hol.fr: nice picture ===== From bobfranke@halcyon.com: I_m speechless, great image. ===== From gmccarter@hotmail.com: A well-constructed scene of impressive scale. The human figures are great for providing a size reference for the scene (but how did you make them?). Good, tight color scheme. Educational and precise. ===== From ethelm@bigfoot.com: Excellent realism. Striking lighting & color. Well Done! ===== From djconnel@flash.net: Dave: Impressive!!! The composition is excellent, offering a nice variety in scale which is grounded in the human figures. The view to the upper right is excellent. The flames are very nicely done. And the topicality is quite good. One problem: Your right two flames are equivalent. You need to give some more thought to what tranformations are being applied to your patterns. Also, I am not sure what to make of the brick pattern on the building. It has what almost appear to be tiling artifacts, but clearly they are not. I assume they are intentional. One more suggestion : There is an excellent article at http://www.serious3d.com/ (see free article) in which the importance of imperfection in photorealism is excellently described. Your vat could use a few nicks. Other than the flame problem, though, the image is excellent. Dan ===== From bill@apocalypse.org: Very nice, This would be cool as a basis for an animation. I like the coloring too. ===== From wozzeck@club-internet.fr: Good idea, nice modelling and very interesting lighting, even if looks (to a total ignorant like me) really too yellow. And the overall scene is too clean. Good job. ===== From ekennedy@voyager.net: I truly enjoyed this image, and your written description. Your attention to detail is incredible. As a native Pittsburgher and a metellurgical engineer I have a special appreciation! The pervasive orange glow is very realistic. My only criticism, if you can call it that, is that it's much cleaner than any steel mill I've been in... But, truly, well done. ===== From 101741.541@compuserve.com: Aaah ! Our specialist about industrial modelling ! So, excellent modelling, as usual. Strong (good) lighting. But.. weak texturing, as usual too. I live in a city with an important industrial past (declining from year to year), and I love the related buildings, I often observe them. The richness(?) of textures is amazing : rusty iron (different levels of destruction, different colours, according to the kind of iron), soil, dirt,... I'm sure you can do that ! Next time ? ===== From r@dt027n86.maine.rr.com: When ever you see such a complex scene you must admit it took more time than you would want to give. The use of fire lighting and the broad encompass of the scene brings it to a good point. But I would have liked to see a little more color and texture used to add a bit of spice. Notable for modelling, composition
