With all the bombs and mirrors, I think the point IS muddled.
It's as if this is an image of reflections, and the bomb itself is almost
secondary.

One suggestion : Clearly you encounter max_trace_depth problems.
I would have set it to a greater value.

Second, while the image is quite interesting as is, I think it
needs perhaps a touch more.  A door might help....

But this is clearly a nice use of raytracing, and a very interesting
idea.
