===== From jknepley@chisp.net: The time you spent on the grass paid off. Frankly, I would've cheated and make that a transparency map. :-) ===== From agage@csee.usf.edu: Now you make me wanna go out and get Lightwave. The image is very nice, though I have two observations. First, the water seems a little too...hard? Blue? Flat? Not sure which. Also, the lighting on the sails is counterintuitive -- where is the source that lights them from the back, since it can't be the sun... ===== From nels1678@tc.umn.edu: This is a nice looking scene, good use of colors, and I like the grass! If you decide to continue working on this image I'd suggest working on your sky, the clouds are a bit unrealistic, and perhaps some of the lighting on the boat. The water is very blue and while not really looking realistic, is pleasent to view. ===== From witoslaw@kki.net.pl: Not much water in this scene... ===== From prizog@hotmail.com: I believe that the rules stipulate something-or-other about cut-and-pasting. Oops! Otherwise, a very nice image. I'll refer you to the silly comment on getlaid.jpg in the Night round: you perv! the admins never shoulda let this one in! Notable for modeling. ===== From jerry@hoboes.com: Wow! Water's great. Sky and sun is great. The ship and bird--very nice touches. The cattails are awesome. Good use of focal blur? Only "criticism" I can come up with is that the plants look less real towards the ground. But I'm still saving this one for wallpaper! ===== From Sean_Hamilton@amrcorp.com: I love the grass. I particulary like the effect with the sun. The water appears a bit flat and the horizon ends abruptly. But I like the scene. ===== From gregj56590@aol.com: Breathtaking. Pleasantly photorealistic, without being annoyingly perfect. Excellent grass. ===== From luca.cornazzani@imola.nettuno.it: Wow! I like this image very much!!! ===== From sonya_roberts@geocities.com: I like this one a lot. Had to look at itr closely a couple times to decide that no, that wasn't a photograph for the sky. Good job! I'd say the grass was well worth it, it's durn near photorealistic and I love the "fuzziness" of the seed head. Don't know if the trees were though, they're so obscured by the grass that you could have probably gotten away with quite a simple model and I wouldn't be able to tell. I like the way the ship's sails are lighted. ===== From catchpol@netspace.net.au: Grass is very good. Water and boat let image down, unfortunately ===== From bsieker@techfak.uni-bielefeld.de: A really excellent image. But, here again, some small points of critique: The sails of the ship are lit from the camera direction, does the ship have strong lamps on board? It looks a bit unnatural and a seems waste of energy to light the sails. The reflection of the sun on the sea is a bit offcenter, it is farther to the right than the sun itself. The central glare of the sun is a bit too small (or the sun is too big, which is more likely, the image as seen here must have been taken with a strong tele lens, at least 400mm) ===== From pdolan@jps.net: GREAT!!! Marvelous! Fantastic! The grass was worth it, good water too - only thing that needs improvement is the ship's sails, looks too flat (smoothly shaded) ===== From johnson@pharmacy.arizona.edu: Good image..the lighting on the underside of the sails seems a bit bright white for it to be lanterns on the deck of the ship... ===== From jaime@ctav.es: :o ===== From Varyk@aol.com: everything has a photographic quality here. Brilliant! Only thing I wou= ld have liked is some suggestion that the ship is casting a shadow, looks= kinda superimposed. ===== From gmccarter@hotmail.com: Good approach using the three-layer technique. The sun and sky are nice. The water looks a little bit "crinkly" rather than "wavy". Big flaw: the ship doesn't seem to cast any shadow or reflection upon the water. I like the grass. ===== From jesse@kesmai.com: The grass is most impressive. I've tried several different approaches, but haven't broken down and modelled the baldes of grass individually yet. Your results are quite good (I'll have to break down and do the grass byhand I suppose...) ===== From ethelm@bigfoot.com: Very artistic image.
