TITLE: im~pond NAME: Ian & Ethel MacKay COUNTRY: Australia EMAIL: ethelm@bigfoot.com WEBPAGE: http://www.hermes.net.au/artwerx/ TOPIC: Water COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. JPGFILE: impond.jpg ZIPFILE: impond.zip RENDERER USED: Povray for DOS 3.01 TOOLS USED: Fractint RENDER TIME: 2 hours 28 minutes 6 seconds HARDWARE USED: Pentium 133, 64M RAM IMAGE DESCRIPTION: Our first entry 'Bore-Outback Australia' reached a point where extra fiddling didn't seem to be making much improvement so we decided to try a different interpretation of the subject. ' im~pond' is therefore our second entry. This is the sort of pond found in the hills: cool spots where small streams trickle over rocks, lit by patches of sunlight shining through the trees. A sharp contrast to the 'Bore' image, cool & wet versus hot & dry. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: Everything is original and hand coded. The rocks are a height field from a Fractint 'plasma', one section has a clear overlay to 'wet' the rocks. The stream over the rocks is made of several clear torii. Everything else is CSG. The tussocks are while loops. Standard PovRay, nothing special or very clever but we think it is a pretty picture. Pov file is attached as im~pond.zip
