JPGFILE: jw_break.jpg ZIPFILE: jw_break.zip RENDERER USED: POV-Ray 3.1 TOOLS USED: POV-Ray 3.02, MS-Word'97, Paint Shop Pro, sPatch RENDER TIME: approx. 3hrs for final image HARDWARE USED: P-II 266 IMAGE DESCRIPTION: Whilst working on an image for the IRTC, our digital artist takes a break and contemplates his image whilst having a drink of water. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: The idea for this image occurred as defined in the IMAGE DESCRIPTION. I was going to do something else with the water-pot image for my IRTC Water entry, but it wouldn't gel. -Image on the piece of paper- A work-mate of mine wanted a raytraced paintbrush for a web site he was working on. The paintbrush was created in sPatch (this was my very first object in sPatch, I wasn't going to push the program to it's limits :-), and imported into POV-Ray 3.02. The water pot was then created as a CSG containing spheres and torii, with a halo used to create the "cloud" of paint coming from the brush head. -Contemplating an Entry- Table surface is a combination of three textures via a onion texture_map. Two of the textures are wood textures with turb and two repeat warps and the third is a simple pigment with metallic specular finish. The image_map for the coaster and paperweight was created in MS-Word'97 WordArt, pasted into Paint Shop Pro and exported as a large (1024x1024) gif. The coaster is a cylinder with the image mapped to its upper surface, and the paperweight is a coaster with a hemi-sphere of glass CSGed on top. The glass (including water) is a CSG of superellipsoids and planes. The zip file contains POV-ray source files for both images and the gif for the coaster.
