JPGFILE: sunset42.jpg ZIPFILE: sunset42.zip RENDERER USED: LightWave 3D 5.6 TOOLS USED: Photoshop 5.0 RENDER TIME: ~15h @ 2500x1600 HARDWARE USED: PPro 233, 128mb, FG 1000 pro IMAGE DESCRIPTION: alright, almost everyone thought of doing some sort of sunset at first but changed their mind later on. i however decided to risk being burried with all the other unknown graphics designers. oh, wait a min, i just remembered i'm no graphics designer, it's just a darn hobby. nowhere near to being a proffessional. gee, close one! btw, take a look at the original pic within the zip. rendered in 2500x1600 and do zoom. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: well, most important difference of this image compared to all the thousands of sunsets i have done before: instead of looking for a quick'n dirty way of making grass i figured it's time for something new. somethin revolutionary. since i got lotsa spare time right now (yes, i do ignore the 3000+ pages covering human anatomy plus the physics and chemistry books) i started modelling some real grass. i guess it was worth it!? but, like almost every object that's supposed to look realistic, the grass and the trees require more ram than i have. so i split the project into three pieces. first one creates the sky and sun. second one adds the ocean (btw, what do YOU think about the water??), the trees and the ship. third part includes the grass in foreground and the birdies. results in way more than a million points but no scratch disk usage. yeah! do tell me what you think and you may criticize. cheers gm jamez.
