Clever idea, well done.  The foreground robots have a strangely ...posed look. 
I think it's because of the angle of the sun.  Interesting detail on both
robots.  Nice cracks in the ground, but the rocks have no connection to it.

Bob: I like everything about this scene.... except the 
rover.  While the attention
to detail in the model is excellent (I especially like the 
torsplines!), there are
a few problems.  One is it looks impossibly fragile, as 
though made from
an Erecter Set.  The other is the treads are wrong.... 
they are too deep for
the parched surface, don't appear parallal, and the 
behavior near the
rock doesn't seem right.  Still, the scene has a lot of 
really good things going
for it.  The sky is spectacular, and the mountains are 
really quite good.

I think your scene carries your idea well.  Beautiful job on the moonscape the
rocks and ground are well done.  I would have liked to have seen more shadow
play in the scene, maybe move the sun out to one side.

Lighting makes the background a bit flat.
It might have been funny to add a shadowless, attenuated light inside the sphere
to add a glowing influence on the ground.

The idea is good and the alien landscape is harshly 
beautiful.  The alien probe, however, is a letdown.  It is 
at once unrealistically simple seeming and far too 
prosaic.  The coloring and shiny texture also, to me, 
clash artistically with the rest of the image.

With so much detail in the rover and so little in the background, a viewpoint
closer to the earthbot might've been more appropriate. Adding roughness to the
terrain with normals would make more realistic - the tracks especially look
painted on.
