===== From bobfranke@halcyon.com: I agree, fresh water fish usually have scales not skin. Also the water around the fish needs more work, but I think you are on the right track. Everything else is really very good. I especially like the flowers and leaves. ===== From newkirk@snip.net: Flowers are gorgeous. Butterfly and water spash are as well. (I'd have used red instead of blue on the butterfly to single it out more) Great to see some visible thickness to the lilypads! Water looks odd, perhaps since the surface below is featureless. Also, fish looks incomplete somehow, largely (I think) from the visible joint of the head. At first I saw this as gills, but then noticed that the 'flap' runs all the war around the fish's back. I think some more time spent on the fish, and rocks or something under the water would promote this to a 'fabulous' image, instead of VERY nice. (IMHO, of course) ===== From Sean_Hamilton@amrcorp.com: Outstanding! The fish is awesome! The water should probably splash more, but it still looks great! Hopefully this image will be recognized and awarded! ===== From gmccarter@hotmail.com: Image composition needs work: the reflections of the flowers in the water makes the main feature of the scene (the small butterfly) very difficult to see. Good textures, especially on the fish. ===== From MMandl@aol.com: Nice refraction with the part of the fish in the water and out of it! ===== From djconnel@flash.net: Spectacular work! Technically this is an extraordinary entry. It has the rare combination of excellence in modeling, texturing, and composition which really makes for an outstanding piece of work. It is truly a deserving winner... definitely in the top 3. ===== From east103@dialaccess.com: Nice image, has an oriental feel to it. ===== From ethelm@bigfoot.com: Very nice image. Well Done. ===== From 101741.541@compuserve.com: very fresh image. good modelling. colors are a little "raw", especially greens... ===== From blaineholmes@hotmail.com: Beautiful picture. I like it a lot. Very nice textures and layout. ===== From clem@dhol.com: Of the several "creature about to be eaten" images this round, this adds the additional thematic element of "creatures from different worlds" (air vs. water). The flowers are outstanding and the crackle veining of the nearest leaf works very well. The splash is a good idea and pretty well done, but you need more small scale drops and splashes. Some (height field perhaps) disturbance of the water outside the splash would help too. Why does the predator win in all of these rendered encounters? In any case, a most excellent image. ===== From jaime@ctav.es: Beatiful idea. Modelling is good also, but I disagree a bit with texuring colors. ===== From r@haka.saunalahti.fi: Everything looks great except for the part of the fish coming out of the water - the skin looks too leathery and not at all wet, which on the other hand does match with the fact that the blobs of water show no sign of adhering to the fish. A careful person would've prudently hidden those few places where the flowers intersect each other.
